Spin for Kids
Sunday, October 25, 2009

Thanks for making Spin for Kids 2009 a huge success!
The website will remain open for online donations until November 30, 2009.

Join Camp Twin Lakes and its Partners for our 4th annual fundraising bike ride through the gentle rural hills of Morgan County and help send children with serious illnesses and life challenges to camp!

THE RIDE

Rides will begin and end at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA, located 50 miles east of Atlanta. The courses will take riders through rural Northeast Georgia and the historic towns of Madison and Rutledge. Five courses will allow riders of various skill levels, from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist, to participate in this exciting event. This year, we will feature 5, 27, 47, 62, and 100-mile rides. All routes are fully supported with premium rest stops, SAG wagons, and motorcycle escorts.

Riders, along with their friends and family, are invited to experience the beautiful facilities at Camp Twin Lakes throughout the day. Following the rides, join us for a post-ride celebration featuring food, music, and fun camp activities for everyone. NEW THIS YEAR - Day Camp for children of riders! Be sure to register your kids early for a day of fun at Camp Twin Lakes- Rutledge while you are enjoying the ride.

RIDE WITH SCOTT RIGSBY

When he was 18 years old, Scott Rigsby was riding in the back of a truck that was suddenly hit by an 18-wheeler, The impact threw him underneath a 3-ton attached trailer and dragged him 300 feet. His right leg was severed off; his left leg was barely attached to his body; and he suffered third degree burns. Life was seemingly over for him. Scott endured over a decade of doctors' visits, 26 surgeries, more amputation, fear, depression, prescription drug addiction an complete uncertainty. Now, more than 15 years later, Scott has turned his life around. He has completed over 13 triathlons, 5 road races, and is on his way to setting world records for a double below-the-knee amputee in several world class competitions, including an Ironman. Scott's Spin for Kids' team, The Unthinkables, is a tribute to his unique story of success and failures which all started with a decision and the desire to never quit, no matter what, no matter how long. Scott will also be a special guest speaker at our Awards Ceremony and will have a special book signing at the event!
